DARRELL GREIG AKA ' PHAT BASTARD'
HEIGHT & WEIGHT
175cm – 96kg
AT WHAT AGE DID YOU START RIDING?
Grew up on farm, started riding at age 9, been riding bikes ever since. Started racing at age 23. Mainly involved in Enduro & cross country events, then branched out into Motocross for sprint fitness for Enduro's mainly, but have since found I really enjoy MX as much as hitting the trails.
WHERE DID AKA ‘Fat Bastard’ COME FROM?
‘cause I've got scottish blood in me and I love to eat plus I'm a bit porky!!
I've competed in the Finke Desert Race (5 times now), NSW Stadium MX, NSW Sprint Series, NSW AMCROSS, SA Enduro titles, Aust Off Road series (the odd event - too far to travel sometimes), various other Enduro & MX based club events. Just gotta get my racing fix!!!
PREFERRED STYLE OF RIDING?
Well my current riding style is generally "out of control". But prefered style of event, I tend to lean towards doing more MX, due to a lot of the clubs holding more MX than Enduro based events these days, which is a pity. Still good to see some clubs still pushing the Enduro stuff.
WHERE IS YOUR FAVOURITE RIDING SPOT?
MX track would be the Tottenham MCC track, nice and loamy!! Enduro style track, the Dungog round of the NSW Sprint series is always a great ride, general trail riding would be just about anywhere that is a little challenging and not too dusty (do I sound like a girl)?
WHAT ASPIRATIONS DO YOU STILL HAVE?
To come away from the Finke one year with a hot little trophie in my hand! Also to have a go at some events like the Aussie 4 day, the Australian Safari, or just to get a bunch of mates and head off on a big 2-4 week trail ride somewhere. Maybe even do a Postie bike ride across the Simpson for something different. But the big aspiration would be Dani (my Wife) & I opening up our own Ride Park not too far from Newcastle, mmmmmm better start buying those Lotto tickets, or stop spending money on my bike........................
OTHER INTERESTS?
Water Skiing, Traveling, Music, reading about how well Aussie riders are doing overseas & on home soil. And obviously getting behind the video camera to show you guys/gals what a great past time riding dirt bikes can be - yeah right, like I need to tell you.
